Hinckley Celebrates First Pride Event, Promoting Representation For Local Queer Community

Hinckley was treated to a colourful explosion on the bank holiday weekend as the vibrant and diverse Hinckley community proudly hosted its first-ever Pride event, blazing a trail for local queer representation. Set in the glorious grounds of Hollycroft Park, amidst the rain showers, the spirit of inclusivity shone brightly as attendees gathered to celebrate love, diversity, and acceptance.

The event, held on Saturday 26th August, witnessed an overwhelming response from the community, as both LGBQT+ people and allies came together to show their support for queer rights. Adorned with smiles, glitter and all the colours of the rainbow, attendees displayed their unwavering pride and love, proving that rainbows can pierce through the darkest clouds.

Over the course of six exhilarating hours, Hinckley Pride delivered a breathtaking lineup of live entertainment, tribute acts, local bands and drag acts, providing a platform for local talent to shine. From awe-inspiring performances to thought-provoking speeches, each moment resonated with positivity, echoing the power of unity and celebration.

Dotted throughout the event grounds were more than 40 vibrant stalls showcasing a diverse array of products and services from the local area. Revellers indulged in culinary delights from food and beverage stands, including Hinckley Pride's proud partner, Bond Street Distillery. The distillery served its specially crafted Hinckley Pride Gin, encapsulating the passion of the event in every sip.

Speaking about the event, Hinckley Pride’s Chair Dan Hope Moore expressed their gratitude,

“We are overwhelmed by the outpouring of support and enthusiasm from the Hinckley community. Today's Pride event has not only been a celebration of love, but also a testament to our commitment towards promoting equality and acceptance for all. We are proud to stand united as we pave the way for a more inclusive future. We can’t wait for what’s to come!”

As Hinckley Pride resoundingly demonstrated, representation matters. By embracing diversity and fostering an environment of inclusivity, societies can flourish, enabling individuals to thrive in their truest forms. The impact of such events extends beyond the immediate festivities, inspiring communities to come together and amplify the voices of all those who yearn to be heard.

The success of Hinckley’s inaugural Pride event lies not only in the joyous celebration but also in the vital message it conveys. By establishing a platform for queer representation, the event served as a beacon of hope and empowerment for the local LGBTQ+ community. It provided them with an opportunity to be seen, heard, and celebrated for who they truly are.
