Hinckley Pride, established on the 50th anniversary of Pride in the UK, is proud to share the date for the FIRST pride event in Hinckley and Bosworth, ‘Pride in the Park’, Saturday, July 15th 2023.
A day-long festival, ‘Pride in the Park’ will be hosted in the glorious grounds of Hollycroft Park. With a mainstage featuring over five hours of live entertainment, the day can be enjoyed by those within the LGBTQ+ community and its allies. From local drag queens to tribute acts, pop bands to folk musicians, the day will provide entertainment for all.
In addition to the mainstage, we will be hosting a speakers’ corner offering talks on LGBTQ+ matters and a series of spoken word pieces on LGBTQ+ lives and rights.
We have a ‘Made with Love’ market featuring local small businesses and crafters to complement the mainstage and speakers' corner. With over 50 stalls, the market is bolstered with food and beverage, health and well-being, local community groups and charities.
Hinckley Pride Chairperson, Dan, said;
“As a committee, we were blown away by the interest we have had for our first pride event. We are excited to be working with so many local businesses, all of which are proud to support the LGBTQ+ locally”
Starting at 12.30pm and running until 6.30pm, the festival will offer fun and entertainment for the whole family. To ensure true inclusivity for all, the event is free to attend. The committee has worked tirelessly over the past six months to fundraise and secure vital funding from local businesses to keep this promise to its community.
Committee member Charlotte adds,
“When planning, we all wanted to ensure the event was inclusive, transcending sexuality or gender, to ensure anyone would be able to attend Hinckley Pride’s first event. It has been a hard few months fundraising, but it was so worth it”
Dan adds,
“We can not wait for the people of Hinckley and Bosworth to come and spend the afternoon with us”
